MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage Therapy

Myofascial Therapy

Myofascial (mi-oh-FASH-al) release is a manual therapy technique often used in massage. The technique focuses on pain believed to arise from myofascial tissues — the tough membranes that wrap, connect and support your muscles.

Theoretically, myofascial pain differs from other types of pain because it originates in "trigger points," which are related to stiff, anchored areas within the myofascial. The pain that a trigger point causes is often difficult to localize, though.

During myofascial release therapy, the therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable under light manual pressure. These areas, though not always near what feels like the source of pain, are thought to restrict muscle and joint movements, contributing to widespread muscle pain. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy loosen up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain.

Laser Smoking Cessation

A cold laser is applied to specific points on the ears, hands, and legs to specifically targets acupoints that have been shown to aid in the cessation of smoking. Only one 20 minute treatment is generally required to obtain the desired results. If a second treatment is necessary, it will be provided at no additional charge within the first 30 days.

Laser treatment for smoking cessation may not work for everybody, but many patient's report reduced or eliminated cravings. Additionally, patient's have reported that the cigarette flavor becomes unpleasant. Laser therapy does not change social behaviours. Activity modification and family/friend support is necessary to help with any addiction, including nicotine.

Research continues to show the harmful effects of smoking on our bodies, this includes having increased daily pain levels. Our clinic is doing whatever we can to help patient's live a healthier, happier life. If you are ready to quit smoking, make the decision. We are here to help.
